An IPTV playlist is the file or link that tells your player app what channels, movies and series you have access to. Adding it correctly is the difference between "nothing loads" and watching in five minutes.
This guide covers both methods — M3U playlists and Xtream codes — on every popular device.
M3U vs Xtream: Which Should You Use?
- Xtream codes (server + username + password) — easiest, updates automatically, built-in movies and series. Recommended.
- M3U playlist (a link or file) — useful if your provider only offers M3U, or you're using a player that only accepts playlists.
Your IPTV provider emails you whichever details they use — ours sends both options.
How to Add an M3U Playlist
- Open your player app
- Choose "Add playlist" / "Login with URL" (exact wording varies by app)
- Paste your M3U link (it usually looks like
http://example.com/get.php?username=...&password=...&type=m3u) - Tap Add / Save — the channels load automatically
- If your player needs an EPG, add the EPG URL your provider sends you too
M3U can also be uploaded as a file (.m3u or .m3u8) on players that support local files.
How to Add an Xtream Playlist (Recommended)
- Open your player app
- Choose "Login with Xtream Codes"
- Enter your server, username and password from your welcome email
- Tap Add User / Login
- Done — channels, movies, series and the TV guide all appear
Full app-by-app steps:
Adding a Playlist by Device
Firestick: Install your player via the Downloader app (code 164547 for IPTV Smarters Pro), then add the M3U link or Xtream codes as above. See the installation guide.
Android (phone/tablet/box): Install the player from the Google Play Store, open it and add your playlist.
iPhone / iPad: Install the player from the App Store and add your playlist — Xtream codes work the same way.
Smart TV (Samsung / LG): Use the TV's app store, install the player, and add your playlist from the app's main menu.
Common Playlist Problems
- "Playlist failed to load" → the link has a typo, or the subscription isn't active. Re-copy the exact link from your email.
- Channels show but won't play → refresh the playlist and restart the app.
- EPG is empty → add the EPG URL separately and set your timezone to Dublin.
- Movies/series missing → Xtream codes show them automatically; M3U sometimes doesn't. Switch to Xtream if your provider offers it.

FAQ
What is an IPTV playlist?
It's the link or file that connects your player app to your provider's channels, movies and EPG.
Is M3U the same as Xtream?
No. M3U is a playlist link/file; Xtream is a server + username + password login. Both work with most players — Xtream is easier.
Do I need to update my playlist?
With Xtream codes, updates are automatic. With M3U, occasionally refresh it in the app.
Can I use one playlist on two devices?
Usually yes, but check your provider's plan for simultaneous connections.
